1930s Flutter Skirt - Mahogany Herringbone
Prepare to fall in love with our exquisite Flutter Skirt, faithful to original 1930s styles and now in Mahogany wool, our richest brown wool yet. This limited edition brings a dark academia feel to autumn and winter dressing - shop the matching suit pieces or enjoy her as a treasured separate.
A faithful 1930s skirt in a deep, dark-academia brown herringbone, part of our Heritage Collection celebrating Yorkshire. The herringbone weave, a zigzag of V-shaped rows, gives the cloth real depth and a rich, tactile finish that looks beautiful from autumn through winter.
The classic 1930s shape is fitted through the hip and thigh, then flares from below the knee. It is cut in 7 gores, which are tapered panels joined edge to edge. They shape the skirt smoothly to the body without gathers and open out into the swing at the hem. It sits at the natural waist and falls to mid or low calf on an average-height wearer, the authentic 1930s length.
The waistband fastens with a modern back zip and button and is non stretchy for a firm fit. Because of that, we recommend choosing your size by your waist measurement and there is some comfort stretch in the hip to allow for ease of movement. The skirt is part lined.
Wear it as a separate for date nights and everyday vintage dressing. Or build the full suit with the matching 1930s Tailored Jacket and Ladies Plus Fours, both in Mahogany Herringbone. You can also mix it with other pieces from our 1930s skirts. It is also available in Black.
